Live updates: NYC, NJ travel bans in effect as howling winds blow blinding snow

A blizzard warning is issued when there are sustained winds of 35 mph or more, plus visibility of a 1/4 mile or less from blowing snow, and those conditions persist for at least three hours. That creates dangerous whiteout conditions. @master

The thing that drives me nuts lately is that I try to get takeout from a restaurant and they tell me they don't hire delivery drivers anymore - just order from them off Doordash! Which is then more expensive because they not only increase their goddamn prices because of the fees Doordash charges them but then we have to pay Doordash fees for the "convenience" of having our food delivered to us later than it'd have been if the restaurant had their own delivery drivers in the first place!
